Karats Pure gold is 24 karat. 14 karat gold or 14k, means 14 parts gold, 10 parts alloy, 58 percent pure gold. 18k is 18 parts gold, 6 parts alloy, or 75% gold.
Alloys may include silver, brass, copper, tin, zinc, nickel, antimony and aluminum. Vary the alloy and you can change the color. Those of you allergic to gold are allergic to something in the alloy. Alloys vary, so keep trying!
Carats A carat is a measurement of weight in stones. Different stones have different specific gravities, so a half carat in one stone can be larger, or smaller, than another type of stone.
Carrots Carrots are a vegetable that's best grown in sandy loam soil with plenty of water and sun. Orange in color, they're delicious.
